Dieter Huhn, a resident of Dawson Creek passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 in Dawson Creek, B.C. at the age of
75 years.
Dieter was the third of eight children born on January 24, 1940 to Erich and Helene Huhn in Schmalkaldon, Germany which was in the East Zone. The family escaped to the West Zone and lived there for a few years before immigrating to Canada.
Dieter took his mechanic training in Calgary, he worked for Department of Highways in Salmon Arm, Nobel Tractor in Armstrong, Eagle T Towing in Fort St. John, Gear-O-Rama, R. Dufour, United Spring & Brake in Dawson Creek before poor health made working difficult. Mechanics was his profession as well as his passion.
He loved to watch soccer. When he was in the hospital last May, his biggest worry was that he wouldn’t be able to be home in time to watch the FIFA Women’s Cup. Dieter also loved dogs and he always missed his shepherd Rudy, but Suzy had been his constant companion during the last while he had been ill.
People will remember Dieter as being very independent, determined, and a “bit” stubborn. He had “itchy feet” and loved to move.
Dieter was predeceased by his parents; Erich and Helene, sister; Lara, in-laws; Geoff Walked and his wife Patricia Hornell.
Dieter is survived by his loving wife; Lynn, son; Richard, daughter; Bonnie, along with his grandchildren; Keegan and Scarlet, and stepsons; Stewart and Larry.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Riverview Cemetery, Pouce Coupe, B.C.
