Samuel MacLeod

MacLEOD, Samuel M.
Pictou
MacLEOD, Samuel Martin - Born in Murray Harbour, PEI on March 9, 1928, he was the last surviving family member of the late Malcolm and Mary MacLeod.
He was a long term employee of 47 years with Northumberland Ferries Ltd. A lifetime member of the Eastern Star I.O.O.F. Lodge, No. 1, Pictou, he also was an adherent of the St. James Anglican Church, Pictou.
Dad passed away quietly on Monday, March 7, 2016 in the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, which he considered his home for the past several years. He was known for his quick wit, funny stories and his love of bingo.  Sam will be missed by all he socialized with on a daily basis. Dad's greatest love was the visitation of family and in particular his great-grandchildren who were always the beneficiaries of his Bingo winnings, and it brought beaming smiles to his face to see them.
He was predeceased by his wife of sixty years, Audrey (Prest); infant daughter, Cathleen Merinda; and son-in-law, John Stewart.
Sam is survived by his son, Charles (Paula), Cape Breton; daughter, Sylvia Stewart, Scotsburn; and son, Richard (Carol), Sinclair’s Island; as well as eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:30AM until the time of service at 11AM, both in the McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating. Burial to follow in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
