Hazen Walker

WALKER, Hazen E.
With sadness, the family of Hazen Walker announces his unexpected passing at his home, on March 10th, 2016. Hazen was born in Saint John on September 23, 1941; a son of the late John and Mabel (Stevenson) Walker, and the loving husband of Susan (Saunderson) Walker. Hazen, better known to many as Uncle Buck, was a master outdoorsman. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, and liked weekend bike runs that ended with a campfire, sing song, and a few drinks. He enjoyed cribbage, fiddle music, and listening to the Weekend Jamboree. You would always find Hazen with his loyal dog Blu at his side. Hazen will be loved and remembered by his many friends and family for his creative ingenuity and enjoyment of life. After his retirement from the Department of Transportation as a District Supervisor, Hazen kept active as a fine grader and equipment operator. He worked for Gulf Operators, Humber Valley Paving, Sterling Mullen and Fundy Paving, to name a few. He was active in his community, and served as President of the Seaview Community Club for many years. In addition to Susan and her family, left to cherish his memory are his son John Walker (Charlotte) of Chiliwack, BC; his daughter Samantha Walker (Morgan) of Saint John, brothers Douglas of Gardner Creek, Edward of Saint John; sisters Zeversa Godfrey (James), Lois Boyle, both of Niagara Falls, June Wilband of Cambridge Narrows, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Hazen is pre-deceased by his daughter Lindsay, sisters Evelyn Ramsay and Loretta Carr, and by brothers Willis and Arnold Walker.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424), where the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m, as well as Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m, followed by the funeral service in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 2p.m. Interment will take place in the Black River United Church Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be placed at www.fundyfuneralhome.com
