Verner ‘Vern’ Murdock Hillier

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Verner ‘Vern’ Murdock Hillier at the age of 64 on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (McKenzie) Hillier.
Vern worked for 20 years with T.W.Curry Ambulance and the last number of years with various trucking companies.
Vern loved life, travelling to his trailer in the country, boating on the Bras d’Or Lakes and tinkering in his garage but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Marilyn (Bailey); daughters, Lori Ross (Mike Britten), Allison (Eddie) Hawley; son, John (Cherlyn); his pride and joy grandchildren, Bailey and Jesse Hawley, Elliott Britten, Leah Hillier and Kyle Hutt; furry friend, Teddy; sisters, Martha Cameron, Ann Michalik, Gwen Smith; brothers, George and Lloyd (Lorna); in-laws, Helen and Minnow Bailey and by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mr. Hillier will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
