PICTOU LANDING – Colleen Mae Dowding, 60, Pictou Landing, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at home.
Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of Percy Weldon and Helen Marguerite (MacDougall) Hayne, Pictou Landing.
Colleen was a graduate of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1975, and was employed with the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow for many years prior to retirement due to ill health. She was very proud of her nursing career; the opportunity to help others and the lifelong friendships that were gained.
Colleen was a member of the former Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, cousin and friend.
Surviving besides her parents, Percy and Marguerite, are her husband, Maurice Anderson; sons, Brian Dowding, Toronto; Brett Anderson, Pictou Landing and his girlfriend, Cristal Cantley, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Raine Dowding, Jayce Anderson, Kelsey Anderson and Alyvia Anderson; sister, Anne Louise (John) Vance, New Glasgow; brother, Percy (Mary Gorman) Hayne, Merigomish; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; many cousins.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow with Father Thomas MacNeil presiding.
