William "Eric" Cathcart

CATHCART, WILLIAM "ERIC"
It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of William “Eric” Cathcart, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on March 15, 2016. Born in 1949 in Glace Bay, NS, he is the son of Eva (Buchanan) Cathcart and the late Cecil Cathcart and the loving husband to Heather (Murray) Cathcart.
Eric was self-employed as a Construction Safety Coordinator and over the years he worked with many varied companies in both eastern and western Canada.
Eric was a very kind, generous and easy-going man. He was known for his wit and sense of humor, and was always very proud of his Cape Breton heritage. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed his many trips to Cuba over the years. He liked to sit down and enjoy a nice cup of tea, but above all, he was a family man; His grandchildren were his pride and joy and will miss him very dearly.
In addition to his wife Heather, Eric is survived by his mother Eva, son Scott (Suzan) and daughter Joanna (Dan) Creamer, both of Quispamsis, NB; brothers Bruce (Mary), Allan (Judy), and Aubrey (Robyn); sisters Shelley (Noel) Cronin, Norma (Mark) Chaisson, and Erna (Keith) Ferguson; four grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Grant, and Kate, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eric was predeceased by his father Cecil.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 11am.
Memorial donations made in Eric’s name to the Joshua Group or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
