Estelle “Esther” Pauline Salsman - 94, of Cambridge, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 15, 1921 in Upper Cornwall, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Glen Ernst and Margaret (Burgoyne) Ernst. Esther worked at the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, Waterville as a cleaner, before becoming a homemaker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Esther is survived by daughters, Linda (Donnie), Meteghan; Elaine (Stephen), Cambridge; sons, Glendon, Waterville; Michael (Donna), Waterville; Martin (Melanie), Kentville; St. Clair (Muriel), Woodville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Esther was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Salsman; son Roger; five great grandchildren; sister, Helen; brothers, Freddy, Gurney, Moyle, Billy, Stanley “Mickey”, Lowell, Paul, Jimmy, Wallace and Ronald. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, Reverend Murray Shaw officiating. Burial will take place in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
