John Cedric Gallant

The death occurred peacefully with his family by his side at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, March 17, 2016, of John Cedric Gallant at the age of 78 years, from Summerside and formerly of Wellington. He was born in Cape Egmont on August 19, 1937, son of the late Augustin and Yvonne Gallant. Cedric was a devoted husband to Yvonne (nee Arsenault) Gallant and a loving father to Brenda (Carl), Gerald (Christine) and Duane (Cassie). He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Vanessa, Lindsay, Anthony and Mack and Jack. He will be forever cherished by his sisters Rose Marie (Eric) Gaudet – Darmouth, NS, Virginia Irvine – Burlington, ON, Viola (John Jr.) – Wellington, Noella (John) – Toronto, ON, and Lucille (Ulric) – Urbainville, and brother Alan (Yvette) – Urbainville. Cedric is also survived by numerous in-laws, who were very special to him. Cedric loved the many years he worked as a heavy equipment operator and as owner and operator of Yvonne’s Restaurant. He served as a volunteer firefighter and was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 17 and past president of Evangeline Recreation Centre. Resting at the Evangeline Coop Funeral Home, Urbainville, until Monday, March 21, then to Immaculate Conception Church, Wellington, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church Cemetery, Egmont Bay, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Palliative Home Care, PCH Oncology Unit or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 20,from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 17, Wellington, will hold a service at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday night.
