Marie Murray

Passed on: March 18th, 2016

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, NL, on March 18th, 2016 surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 79.. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to the sweetest mom, grandmother and great-grandmother that anyone could ask for. Her pride and joy had been her loving five daughters and five sons who were her universe. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the stars in that universe. Life for her had many challenges but she managed to raise a wonderful family, and she always had compassion, patience, acceptance and a loving personality. Words cannot express our appreciation to the management, residents and staff of the Beachside Manor, as well as the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for all the care, love, and support. Marie is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, the late Leo Murray, and her twin infant daughters Lucy and Cecilia. Leaving to mourn her daughters Donna (Eli Duke), Mildred, Marcella (Michael Murphy), Geraldine (Tony Kelly), and Loretta; sons Michael, James (Nancy Murray), Lawrence, Leo (Donna Murray), and Robert; grandchildren Darryl, Trevor, Christopher, Chantelle, Craig, Amanda, Scott, Alicia, Ashley, Sonia, Michael, Devon, Candice, Destiny, Travis, Lesley, James, Jonathan, Kyle, Jacob, and Justin; five great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Margaret McCafferey; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends, especially Alice Hartson and Mrs. Hickey. Visitation will take place at Maher's Funeral Home on Saturday, March 19 from 7-9pm, and Sunday, March 20 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am Monday, March 21, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia. Interment is to follow at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery in South East Placentia.
