Passed peacefully away at her daughter's residence, Carbonear on Saturday, March 19, 2016, Mary E. Whelan of Harbour Grace South, age 97 years. Predeceased by husband Michael; son William; sisters Joan McDonald, Ann McDonald and Margaret O'Brien; brother Tom McDonald. Leaving to mourn, one daughter Theresa (Dermot) Cole, Carbonear; one son Michael (Alice) Whelan, Harbour Grace South; daughter-in-law Julia Whelan, Sandy Cove; nine grandchildren Owen (Sherry), Paul, Deanne (Andrew), Glenn, Corey (Jennifer), Danielle (Matthew), Michael (Hee Soon), Dean (Pamela) and Darryl (Pandora); eight great-grandchildren Morgan, Tyler, Emma, Sarah, Leah, Noah, Dylan and Zoe; special nephew Kevin McDonald; other nieces and nephews, her many Bingo buddies and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Harbour Grace on Sunday, 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Monday, 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Tuesday, March 22 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace.
