We, the family of Raymond Eric MacAskill, of North River, most recently of Sydney, regret to announce his passing on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born March 22, 1945, he was a son of the late Duncan and Christine (MacDonald) MacAskill.
Until retirement, Eric was employed with Fisheries & Oceans. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Eric is survived by his sons, Raymond (Danyelle), Sydney, Robert (Nadine), New Minas, David (Jeanette), Saint John, N. B. and Stephen, Calgary, Alta.; brother, Angus 'Gussie', North River; grandchildren Ashley, Alex, Dylan, Evan and Mya.
He was predeceased by his wife, Judith (MacPherson).
Visitation will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, North River on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the church on Thursday 1 p.m., with Rev. Corrie Stewart officiating. Interment in North River Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
