Misty Higgins. Born March 30th, 1942 in the Digby Hospital. Passed in her home, the place she wanted to be, on the a.m. of February 22nd, 2016.

Many will remember her boundless energy for life and the people in her life. Her curiosity of all things knew no limits. Love of family and honesty were her core values. If you were her friend, you were treated like family.

Her strength came from somewhere deep inside. She was a spiritual person by nature and this was her moral compass.

She stayed with us long enough to bear the unfortunate passing of her parents, Nora & Curtis Higgins, many years ago, who will now be there to greet her in the hereafter. She will also be greeted by many of her friends and family, including all of her brothers, but in particular, Sherman, whom she had missed since early on in her life; both Andrew and Chuck for their gentle, kind ways; as well as Melvin and Collin who passed many years ago.

She will also be greeted by her beloved sister, Lilian, with whom she shared so many good times in Nova Scotia. With her sister, Nancy, she was as close as two sisters could be. They shared so many of life’s experiences together. She was devastated at Nancy’s passing in 2009. It was a heart felt pain that never healed and many times she spoke of her.

Shortly thereafter, Tammy, her younger daughter passed, also in 2009. This just broke her heart. It was a blow that she never really got over and she mourned her passing until her own.

She and her very close niece, Kathy Milburn, were always there for each other. (“Let the good times roll!”)

More recently, her “cousin” Karen’s passing in a tragic auto accident also took a little piece of her heart which will now become whole again when they reunite. Her favourite Aunt Milly will also be there.

Those who are here still to send her off on her eternal journey are as follows: her husband, Arthur Doucet; her elder daughter, Darlene, who will miss her daily talks with her mom; Terry, her son, who, along with his wife, Kim, will miss the summers spent together at his house; and all of her grandchildren: Landon, Philippe, Isabelle, Nicholas, and Jessica. They will always carry her memory with love in their hearts.

Her nephew, Kevin Shea, and niece, Rhonda, had a very close bond with her and talked often despite living in different parts of the country. She will also be missed by her niece, Lorraine; we join in mourning the recent passing of their brother, Jay.

There are so many friends, some still with us and some already gathered to greet her…friends like Judy, Linda, Janet, and Evelyn, amongst so many others. Her dear friend, George Cutford, has been waiting patiently for her arrival.

We will miss her dearly, until we meet again.
