It is with sadness the family of M. Gloria A. (Finlay) Hazen announce her passing at Rocmaura Nursing Home after a long illness with Alzheimer’s disease. Born 1934 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Harris) Finlay. Gloria graduated in 1952 from Saint Vincent’s High School. She was an “honorary” graduate of the Chicago School of Interior Decorating and Design and co-owner and interior decorator for Paint Supplies (NB) Ltd. Gloria loved going to her clubs to play cards for many years with the “girls”. She was also a long time participant in the K-Park Ladies & Couples Bridge. Gloria and Gordon did extensive travelling around the world and traveled Canada with the “Perfect Circle Club” of the Family Motor Coach Association and the Good Sam “Fundy Coast Campers” Clubs and in later years wintered in Florida. Gloria’s love of music especially dancing was well known to all who knew her.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Gordon, her son, Peter (Lynn) of Saint John; her daughter Heather of Sydney, NS; sisters-in-law and brothers -in-law Bernice Camacho, Venerable Doctor F. Harold (Betsy), Pearl, Donald (Linda), Barbara Finlay, and 15 nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by her parents, her brother Peter, her nephew Christopher, her in-laws Alice (Vallis) and Ford Hazen, brother-in-law Claude Camacho and son-in-law Murray Skinner.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) on Thursday March 24, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church, 646 Westmorland Road on Saturday March 26, 2016 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
