The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, of Earl W. Murphy, Pleasant View, aged 85 years. Beloved husband of Jean Murphy, nee Shea. He was born in Centre Line Road on January 23, 1931, the son of the late Clarence and Lima (Handrahan) Murphy. Dear father to Paul (Bonnie) Murphy, Waterford; Shelley (Kevin) Mealy, Walpole, MA and James Murphy (Francine), Elmvale, ON. Loving grandfather to Chelsea and Meghan Murphy; Patrick, Matthew and Nicholas Mealy and step-grandfather to Brayden and Blake McLean. He is survived by brothers and sister Josephine Breau, MA; Leonard (Christine) Murphy, Kildare; Fred (Sheila) Murphy, Mill River; sister-in-law Flo Murphy, Miscouche, Sue Murphy, Brampton, ON. Also survived by brother and sisters-in-law Wilbert (Cathy), late Donnie (Ann) Shea, Paula (Gerard) Kelly, Frannie (Ron) McPherson, late Cathy (Roger) Jones, Janet (Pius) Trainor, Jackie (Elmer) Arsenault, Marilee (late Gary) Arsenault and Nancy Shea. He was predeceased by parents Clarence and Lima; son Patrick; brothers Richard, Joseph and Jean, Russell, Frank; brother-in-law Ulysse Breau; mother and father-in-law Chester and Millie Shea. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Road, for visiting hours Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held Monday, March 28, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, with funeral mass at 11 a.m. Members of St. Anthony’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch #27 will hold a prayer service Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
