It is with heavy hearts that the family of Roger Joseph Miller age 54 of Amherst announce his passing on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late John and Evelyn (LeBlanc) Miller.
Roger worked for 14 years at Sobeys in Amherst and later worked at the Atlantic Super Store for 13 years before retiring because of illness.
He is survived by his daughter Emily Miller of Tidnish, brothers Charles (Joy) Miller of Amherst, Billy (Vikki) Miller of River Hebert and his twin brother Ronnie Miller (Patricia) of Springhill, two sisters Diane (Robert) Jones of Amherst and Myrna (Martin) Smith of Fenwick and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts and uncles.
Roger will be sadly missed by his extended family and co-workers from the Atlantic Super Store Rick Goodwin, Kelly Proctor, Juanita Livingston and Tracy Hurley.
Besides his parents, Roger was predeceased by an infant son Zack, brothers Harold and a sister Shirley Ann and an infant brother David in infancy.
Visitation was held on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906).
Funeral service was held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. from Campbell’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating.
Interment will take place in the Ragged Reef Cemetery, Joggins at a later date.
Memorial donations in Roger’s memory may be made to a trust fund for his daughter Emily.
A special thank you to the Nursing Staff of Palliative Care Unit of Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre and Dr. Brian Ferguson for the wonderful care given to Roger.
