Lena Margaret Davidson (Pye)

Lena Margaret Davidson (Pye)

Davidson (Pye), Lena Margaret, age 86 of Truro/Debert, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2016 in Truro. Born on December 31, 1929 in Annapolis Royal, NS, she was the only daughter of the late Basil and Frances (Lee) Pye.

With a talented sense of the aesthetic, Lena created many lovely things. She was an excellent seamstress, often working without a pattern. Her flair for the artistic was displayed in her beautiful quilts, needlepoints, paintings, and her lovely home. For many years, she enjoyed collecting antique dishes and furniture. Beyond these accomplishments, Lena kept impeccable vegetable and flower gardens, and was a champion berry picker.

Besides helping out in the family store, Lena worked at the Palliser, at Kent Homes, and, most recently, for 16 years, at Scotsburn's Dairy. She was an excellent cook and baker, known for her pies and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed puzzles, games with friends, and was an avid bowler. In later years, she and her husband took long walks together, and enjoyed trips to a variety of faraway places, such as Hawaii, Acapulco, Venezuela, and the Caribbean. Family was everything to this warm, welcoming woman and she was particularly delighted when grandchildren started arriving.

Lena is survived by her husband, Donald Davidson of Truro; daughter Trish/Patricia North (Kevin Shoebridge), Halifax; and son, Frank (Linda) Davidson, North Carolina; grandchildren, Geoffrey (Jessie) North, Indiana, Matthew North, and Kimberley North, both of Halifax, and, from North Carolina, Pam (Derrick) Ingle, Josh (Dixie) Davidson, and Amanda (Kevin) Marley. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Katie and Annabel North, Abigail, Brett, Tanner, Landree and Reece Ingle, Hunter and Allison Davidson, and Trigg, McKenna and Kade Marley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers Arnold, Russell and Basil, and granddaughter Stephanie North.

On Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 at the Debert Baptist Church, visitation will be held at 1pm, followed by funeral service at 2pm, and then the reception and interment in Plains Road Cemetery, Debert. Family flowers only. We, the family, would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff on Garden Rd, Cedarstone who looked after Lena over the years, and, provided such tender palliative care during the last two weeks of her life. Your kindnesses will be remembered. Donations in Lena's memory may be made to the Debert Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Society of NS. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Online messages of condolence may be sent to Lena’s family by visiting: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
