Eleanor Katharine MacDonald Cox - Truro
Donna Eleanor and Katharine Suzzanne Cox regretfully announce the peacefully passing of their Mom at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. She was born in Glencoe, Pictou County March 24, 1926; the youngest child of Allen Grant MacDonald and Laura Annie Dawson. She attended school there and went on to obtain her university education at Acadia University, with an initial degree in Home Economics. She was employed at the Agricultural College in Truro where she met her husband, Donald S. Cox who preceded her in death May 21, 2015.
Besides her two children she is survived by her granddaughters Dr. Jennifer MacDonald and Dr. Katharine (Liam) MacDonald Christie; two great-granddaughters, Eleanor Grace MacDonald and Gwendolyn Rose MacDonald and extended family including cousins Marion and Agnes Fraser.
She was a phenomenal educator and a firm believer in higher education and obtained her BA, BEd and MA in addition to her BSc. She taught in the Valley and Truro school systems and was a renowned teacher with many bright and subsequently very successful students.
She was an exceptional knitter and all who wear her sweaters are fortunate; as well as those who sampled her fudge and boiled icing. She was a beautiful person who never complained and worked for good constantly. We will always love and treasure the most special of Moms and Grandmothers. We thank you for your many gifts.
