Larry William Funk

Loved by all so fortunate to truly get to know this caring, easy to forgive, dependable, humorous and conversational man. Grateful are we for the beautiful memories made over the many years. While holding his hand, he took his last breath and his heart beat the final beat at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK, on March 5, 2016, passing to a warm welcome by our Lord and parents who adored him. Larry will be greatly missed by his sisters Cheryl (James) Carey of Swift Current, SK and Paulette (Dallas) O'Lain of Saskatoon, SK, nephews and niece, Mark Carey of Swift Current, SK, Joanne (Marcel) Perron of Cochrane, AB, Zachary (Sophie) O'Lain of Edmonton, AB, and Spencer (Erin L.) O'Lain of Saskatoon,SK; great nieces Chelsea and Alyssa Perron of Vancouver, BC; as well as all other family. On June 14, 1943 Larry was born to Bill and Vivian Funk in Swift Current, SK. Two years later Cheryl joined the family and eleven years after that, Paulette. Larry excelled in school and shortly after graduation he started with the Department of Highways where he worked for the next ten years. Early 1970's he began work at the City of Swift Current, Riverdene rink in the winters where many longtime friends were made. Parks in the summers on his mower cutting grass and planting and producing beautiful flowers for twenty five years. Most recently Larry worked as a Commissionaire at Swift Current RCMP, a place where his personality really shone to all alike. When not working, spare time was spent with longtime friend, over forty years, Richard (Rick)Fast hunting and fishing. Family wishes to thank Homecare, Swift Current Ambulance, staff at Cypress Regional Hospital, and Dr. Bakare for attention to detail, this being Larry's final home. Here he was treated with respect and dignity, such a blessing. Larry may be gone; however, his memory will live with us forever in our minds and hearts. The memorial service was held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Church of the Open Bible, Swift Current, SK. John Kehler officiating, Trudy Olfert pianist, Ron Olfert song leader. The final resting place is Mount Pleasant Burial Park Columbarium, Swift Current, SK. Friends and family gathered in the lower hall of the Church of the Open Bible for conversation and refreshments.
