Lionel Leger, 96, of Moncton, passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on April 8, 2016. Born in Legerville, St. Paul, NB, he was a son of the late Jude and Edna (LeBlanc) Leger.
Lionel was a veteran of World War II. He worked as a welder for many years, retiring after a long career with Apex. Lionel was a long-time member of Notre Dame de Grace Church and also a proud member of the Legion.
Lionel is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorice (Gaudet); sons, Fernand, Louis (Lyda) and Omer; daughters, Felice (Barry), Annette (Bill) and Caroline; four grandsons; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Alfred (Marie).
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Edmée, Aquila, Dorilla, Yvon, Maximin and Marie.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Notre Dame de Grace Church, 854 Mountain Rd, Moncton, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Paul Church Cemetery, St. Paul de Kent, NB. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of 3E and 3C at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital for their excellent care.
