Kim Andrew Leier

Kim Andrew Leier – 66, Murray Siding, passed away in QEII, Halifax Infirmary on April 12, 2016. Kim had been fighting a number of health issues for the past eight years.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, he moved with his family to Nova Scotia when he was two years old. He was the son of the late Patricia “Jean” (Leier) Steeves.
Kim had a passion for music. He was a drummer in various bands that played at venues around Nova Scotia throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. He enjoyed a variety of sports including tennis, golf, cycling and swimming. Being active was a large part of Kim’s life. He was a member of the Shortts Lake Yacht Club for many years as well as the Truro Tennis Club. He particularly enjoyed the competitive sailboat racing on the weekends at Shortt's Lake. He enjoyed being with his family at the cottage, whether celebrating special events, "debating" current issues, or just relaxing on a quiet day. It was there that he found his peace. Kim will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Angie (Vallis) and her children Bruce and Mark Vallis; brothers, Terry (Earleen), Truro, Scott (Marion), Port Williams as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kim was predeceased by his mother, Jean, in 2007.
Cremation has taken place with no visitation by family request. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 11am in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. The Rev. Lori Ramsey will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kim’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
