Thomas James 'Joe E' Morris
Thomas Morris, age 89, of Port Hawkesbury, N.S., passed away in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home April 13, 2016.
Joe was born in Sydney, the son of Thomas James and Caroline Margaret (MacKenzie) Morris.
Survived by daughters, Adrienne (Scott) Smith, Dundee; Jo Ann Armitage, St. George’s Channel; son, Jeff (Iryna Karaush) Morris, Vancouver; granddaughter, Helen (Neil) Morley, Ardoise; brothers, Harvey, East Bay; Earle (Sandra), Sydney, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by wife, Jean (MacDonald) Morris; son-in-law, Jack Armitage; sister, Marguerite Burns, Texas.
An avid boater and fly fisherman. Served overseas in the Second World War in the Governor General’s Footguards Canadian Armoured Corps. He worked for General Motors, Sampson Motors, Atlantic Concrete, and operated Imperial Oil Bulk Plant. Member of Port Hawkesbury Curling Club and The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43. A great sport, storyteller, friend and gentleman who will be missed by all who knew him.
