The family of Mary Gwendolyn Oulton regret to announce that she passed peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine (MacDonald) Oulton, born in Sydney, Sept. 15, 1927.
Gwen was predeceased by her brother, Cecil.
She was a graduate of Holy Angels High School and Mt. St. Bernard College. She worked as a secretary for R.J. Logue Ltd., as well as MacIntyre Chev, until retirement. Gwen lived in Sydney and for many years, was a summer resident at her bungalow in Ben Eoin, where family, friends and their families enjoyed countless get togethers. Gwen's open invitation for picnics, barbecues, swimming, fishing, boating, bon fires and a good game of 45s, cribbage or bridge were enjoyed by all. Thanks to 'Gwennies bungalow' wonderful memories were made! Gwen loved her pets and all animals. She always had a treat for them, even those that visited her at Harbourstone.
Gwen is survived by her cousin, Joe Anne (Ed) Devereaux and family of Ben Eoin; cousin, Raymond (Elaine Mason) Keating and family of Kitchener, Ont., as well as cousins in New Hampshire and Nova Scotia.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of LeVattes Lane for caring for Gwen over the past nine years. Your professionalism, kindness, patience and attention to all of Gwen's needs is greatly appreciated.
In honouring Gwen's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date.
In Gwen's memory, donations to the Diabetes Association, Hospice/Palliative Care of Cape Breton or the SPCA would be appreciated.
