1949 - 2016
Robert François Arsenault, 67, of Shediac and formerly of Parkton, passed away on Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born on Chester Street, (Parkton), on March 29th, 1949, he was the son of the late Albénie and the late Laura Bourque Arsenault.
Robert had a great career at Radio-Canada from 1976 to 2013, as a journalist and then Director Radio. He has published and written 3 books: "A God alone the glory! The debut of the assemblies of New Brunswick French-language' (2005), Henri Lanctin, "Messenger of grace" (2007) and "De Parkton to eternity" (2013). Robert was Christian, Member of the Assembly of Shediac.
He is survived by his wife, Hélène Girouard Arsenault; two children: Serge (Lindsay) of Moncton and Nathalie (Mike Gison) of Brampton, ON; 3 grandchildren: Emelie, Abigail and Zachary; five sisters: Maria Abel (late Gordon) of Salmon Arm, BC, Diane Arsenault of Dieppe, Annette Boudreau (Gerry) of Moncton, Suzanne Gison (Ed) of Brampton, ON and Monique Paquet (Claude) of Moncton; one brother, Guy Arsenault of Moncton as well as the extended Girouard family.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and also on Monday, April 18th, 2016 from 1 pm until time of funeral service, which will be celebrated from the chapel at 2 pm.
Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society, Programme Coeur en Santé (Université de Moncton) or to the Canadian Hemochromatosis Association would be appreciated by the family.
