We, the family of Ellen Naismith Clark, 86, announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, April 14, 2016, surrounded by her family, at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax, where she had resided the past two years.
Ellen was born the daughter of Charles and Elsie Walker in Sydney Mines, where she spent the majority of her life. While at St. Vincent’s, Ellen made many new friends, but her heart longed for the Island she missed.
Ellen was a member of Carman United Church, and active in the UCW. She was also an avid bowler, and enjoyed knitting and quilting.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Beazley (Ken), Middle Sackville, and her son, Ricky (Heather), Sydney Mines; grandchildren, Raymond and Joseph Beazley and Chris and Karen Clark. She is also survived by her loving sister, Irene Wright (Gordon) and family, Lunenburg, whose love and devotion will always be remembered. She is also survived by her brother, Bill (Phyllis), Sydney. She will be sadly missed by her close friend and sister-in-law, Marion Walker, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Ernie (1986), and son, Kenneth (2003); as well as brothers, Donald and Frank and her sister, Vera Young.
Ellen spent her final days much as she had spent her life, surrounded by those who loved her; recalling stories and lending strength.
Her family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the genuine compassion, love and professional care provided by the staff and associates of St. Vincent’s Nursing Home.
By request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, 2016, at 2 p.m. in Carman United Church, Sydney Mines, with Dianne Kempt DLM officiating. Luncheon to follow in the church hall.
Memorial donations in Ellen’s memory may be made to St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, 2080 Windsor St., Halifax, N.S., B3K 5B2, or a charity of your choice.
