Arthur 'Wayne' Melanson

With broken hearts and loving memories we announce the passing of Arthur Wayne Melanson at the age of 63. Wayne passed away peacefully on April 12, 2016.
Wayne was a caring, generous man with a wonderful sense of humour. Family and friends always came first for Wayne. He was a loyal son, a caring brother to Deborah, a loving husband to Cathy, a beaming father to Alan, a very proud grandfather to Zoe and Evan and a true friend to many.
Wayne enjoyed many hobbies. He loved playing chess, pool, tarabish, horse shoes and road hockey with his son. He was a "True Blue" fan who looked forward to watching St. Louis. He loved science fiction, especially anything associated with Dr. Who. Listening to Rod Stewart, spending time with his fur baby Timmy, reminiscing and laughing with his best friend Rosanna, were also passions for Wayne.
Wayne worked at citizenship Canada for more than 25 years until he retired in April 2010. Wayne was adored by his colleagues and is often remembered for his knowledge of policies and lifelong friendships he made.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Cathy (MacInnis); son, Alan (Melinda); grandchildren, Zoe and Evan; sister, Deborah (Walter) Demone; aunt and uncle Reg (Carol) Norman; mother-in-law, Iva MacInnis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen, John (Lindsay), Gordon (Janet), Laurie (Bob) and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Joyce (Norman) Melanson and father-in-law, Gordon MacInnis.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadiain Diabetic Association in Wayne's name.
