It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother and grandfather, Roy Lorway Watson on April 14, 2016 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care at the age of 68.
Born in Sydney, N.S. June 21,1947, son of Yorke Albert Watson and Margaret Agnes (MacDonald).
Roy Lorway grew up in Sydney and attended Ashby and Woodhill schools. He worked as a welder and millwright at Sydney Steel for 30 years before his retirement.
Roy Lorway is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Anne (LeBlanc); sons, Jason (Jen Gilbert), Ft. McMurray, Alta., and Jeff, Red Deer, Alta.; his precious granddaughters, Teagan Rose and Jessica Anne. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Dan), Ottawa and sister, Barbara (Clyde) Stanwick, Sydney. He will be missed by several nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Albert and sister-in-law, Joyce and nephew, Alfred Stanwick.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 7-9 p.m., and also the following day from 1-2 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow.
Memorials in Roy's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
