BURGESS, ERIC
It is with great sadness the family of Eric Alban Burgess announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family by his side on April 18, 2016 after losing his battle to cancer.  Born in Nerepis on April 11, 1946, he was a son of the late Alban and Beryl (Smith) Burgess.  
Upon the death of his father, Eric became the man of the house at an early age, looking after the family farm, his younger siblings and his mother.  He worked at various jobs including the fertilizer plant, Canada Packers and for himself cutting wood.  He didn’t believe in modern technologies, doing things the old way by hand; shoveling snow, gardening and splitting wood.  He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. 
Eric is survived by a very special sister-in-law, Ann Burgess, nephew and niece Peter and Flo Burgess, who were by his side throughout his battle with cancer; brother, Chris Burgess (Rita); sister, Elizabeth Doyle (Gerard) and several nieces and nephews. 
Besides his parents, Eric was predeceased by his brother, David Burgess. 
By request there will be no visitation or funeral service held.  Interment to take place on April 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery, Nerepis. 
The family would like to thank the nurses of Palliative Care (3BN) at Saint John Regional Hospital, for all their care and compassion.  You are truly special and will not be forgotten. 
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home (634-7425), 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John.  Remembrances can be made to Mount Hope Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice.
