Passed on: April 18th, 2016

With broken hearts and deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, Jason David Young, age 29, on Monday, April 18, 2016.
Born in North Sydney on Oct. 31, 1986, Jason was the son of Wendy (Ivey) and Wayne Young. He worked in construction as a Red Seal Electrician. Jason had a great sense of adventure and loved spending his time outdoors. He enjoyed snowboarding, hockey, camping, and spending time on the water with his boys. His most recent endeavor was learning to scuba dive. He had a passion and talent for music which was evident when he played his guitar. Above all else, the most important thing in his life were his family and friends. Nothing meant more to Jason than spending time with the people he cared about. From trips to the gym with his father, summer days spent in Ingonish with his friends, nightly walks with his dog Penny, having long talks with his beloved mom and looking out for his little sister. He will forever be remembered for his contagious smile, impeccable sense of style, comforting bear hugs and his heart of gold.
Besides his parents, Wendy and Wayne; Jason is survived by his sister, Kelsey (Brett); his girlfriend and love of his life, Terri-Lynn Ivey; his maternal grandfather, Donald Ivey, North Sydney; his paternal grandparents, David and Elsie Young, Little Bras d’Or; special aunt, Charlene Marsh and special uncle, Ronnie Ivey; several cousins, aunts and uncles and his three very close and special friends, Matthew Boudreau, Andre MacDougall and Kevin Jr. Marsh.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Esther Ivey and uncle, David 'Archie' Ivey.
A gathering of close family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A private family burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia supporting Addiction Programming.
