Eldridge “Bert” Errol McLean – 71, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, April 18, 2016 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Bert was born in Truro NS and raised by his loving grandparents Walter and Dora (Dicks) McLean of Johnson Avenue, Bible Hill. Bert worked for Brookfield Creamery, Crossley Carpets and the Dept. of Agriculture. For 17 years he served his community as a volunteer fire fighter for the village of Bible Hill. In 1966 Bert married the love of his life Sharon Leota Mahaney also of Bible Hill, where they raised their two daughters. Bert enjoyed camping on the North Shore, where they met many dear friends. Later in life, Bert and Sharon travelled to Florida spending many winters in the sun. Bert is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Mahaney) McLean; sister, Patty Hanson, British Columbia; daughters, Kathy McLean and Sherry McLean; five grandchildren, Aleasha Pratt, Kameron Richard; as well as “the boys” Cooper, Bailey and Chase Hatfield; two great grandchildren, Jordon Carter and Jayda Rose. All holding a very special place in his heart. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by family request. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Monday April 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Donna Lawrence, officiating. Interment will take place in Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Bert’s memory may be made to Bible Hill Cemetery.
