Peter Dykeman

Dykeman, Peter Raymond
After a 6 year courageous battle, Peter Raymond Dykeman passed away at home surrounded by his family who loved him so very much.  He was lovingly cared for at home by his wife, Donna, who was his support and fulltime caregiver during this time.
Peter had a wonderful life, which was made all the richer by his four children, Jeffery (Jen), Jessica (Jeff), Savannah and Valerie; grandchildren, Cash, Jaxx and Alivia.  He was an amazing big brother to Sue (Brad) and a little brother to Barb and Bruce (Cathy).  Peter will also be lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law, Shannon and Cynthia; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Valerie (Collins) Dykeman.
Peter had many wonderful qualities; he was athletic beyond belief and encouraged his children to follow in his footsteps.  He was an astute businessman; he owned and operated Delta Rent-A-Car for 30 years and was always ready to please his customers.  One of Peter’s greatest passions was boating and both Pete and Donna lived for the summer when the boat was "put in" and the weekends ensued.  They were one of the most social couples on the river and there was always a good time when Pete and Donna where around.  Peter will always be known for his booming voice and love of life, which along with his family he lived to the fullest.  We can’t forget to mention the speedos.
Special thank you to Dr. Pamela Jarrett, Bernetta Ramsay, the Extra Mural nurses and to all those who supported and advocated for Pete.
Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Peter’s Life, which will be held from St. John the Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clements, 815 Millidge Avenue, Saint John on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Alzheimer Society, Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue, IWK or to the Children’s Wish Foundation. www.BrenansFH.com
