Heather Ferguson

Heather Marie Ferguson, 74 years of age.
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Heather Marie Ferguson (MacLeod), the daughter of the late Tom and Helen (Campbell) MacLeod on April 22, 2016.
She slipped away peacefully, gracefully, with the dignity that she embodied, with her loving family at her side. Heather is now once again with the love of her life, her loving husband of 48 years, James “Jimmy” Ferguson, who passed away on June 5, 2013.
Heather was deeply loved by her three children, Susan (Richie Holmes), Dartmouth; Janice (Scott Fraser), Stellarton; and Michael (Stacey), Stellarton. “Grammy” was adored by her five grandchildren, Evan, Eric and Olivia Ferguson, Ryan and Matt Holmes. Heather was a cherished sister to Helen (Robert) Stroud and sister-in-law to Norm and Jean Ferguson, Geraldine Ferguson-Goodyear, and Isabelle and Adrian Pearson and aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Heather was born and educated in New Glasgow and graduated from the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She was a registered nurse who began her career at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow and finished her career at Glen Haven Manor Home for Special Care.
was past Matron of the Harmony Chapter # 25 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mom in her youth enjoyed playing sports of any kind and was inducted into the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame for her athletic abilities in High School Soccer.
Heather loved to read, listen to music, and took great pride in the home she shared with Jimmy and their family. She was always interested in what her grandchildren were doing; Grammy could often be found in a rink, cheering on her favorite little hockey stars.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Gerry Farrell and the nursing staff of the Emergency Department, Medical and Intensive Care Units of the Aberdeen Hospital who provided such wonderful care to Mom during her time on the units.
Cremation to take place.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. A memorial service will be held 2pm Tuesday from the First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton with Rev. Charles MacPherson presiding.
Burial of ashes will take place in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
