Bryan Lee Lavers

Bryan Lee Lavers – age 66 of Great Village.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother, Bryan Lee Lavers on April 20, 2016 at home in Great Village. Born in Truro on September 11, 1949, he was the son of the late Milford and Dorothy Lavers. Bryan is survived by his sisters, Karen (Roger) MacCallum, North River; Susan (Bruce) Dempsey, Herring Cove; Colleen (Ian) McNab, Halifax. Uncle Bryan will be especially missed by his nephews, Tyler (Shauna), Darcy and Nicholas MacCallum and Jacob Dempsey of whom he was very proud. Bryan lived a full life. He enjoyed his career as a skilled flooring installer and later in life as a long haul truck driver. Bryan travelled throughout North America enjoying many adventures and meeting people along the way. Bryan's strength was his engaging personality, a hearty laugh, a dry wit and sparkle in his eye. He shared Mum's natural ability in making personal connections with people that resulted in numerous life-long friendships. Bryan was a lifelong learner and loved to tell stories. His passion for reading drew him to the challenge of working through the complete writings of Farley Mowatt. Often Dad and Bryan would recite Robert Service poetry together. Bryan had many interests and a sharp mind. He loved anything with a motor and enjoyed many adventures on his motorcycles. A favorite memory was cruising in his vintage Porsche. Bryan and Dad also shared the love of flying, spending many hours in his Cessna airplane. Often we would hear, “Great day for flying!” Family and friends were most important, never forgetting special days calling home from wherever he was, always checking in. Bryan valued each and every one of his friendships as they enhanced his life, providing support, laughter and good times. He loved a good feed of lobster, especially at the family cottage.

Bryan's family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27 from 2pm until time of Celebration of Life at 3pm all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A Reception will follow in the funeral home. If so desired, donations in Bryan's memory may be made to First United Church, Truro or charity of choice. Live Webcasting of the service will begin at 2:55pm (Atlantic Time) and is available along with online messages of condolence at: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
