We, the family of Adeline Cousins, regret to announce her sudden, peaceful passing on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Harbourview.
Born in Ingonish on Aug. 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George Edward & Margaret (Young) McGean.
Adeline loved baking for the neighbourhood. Her grandchildren especially loved her coconut cream pies. She was a talented seamstress and was affectionately known as “Scissors.” She spent many hours embroidering pillowcases for everybody she knew. Adeline enjoyed a good game of cards with her sisters.
Adeline is survived by two children: Ernie (Marlene), St. Catharines Ont., Donna (Philip) Marinelli, Sydney Mines, daughter-in-law, Velvet Cousins, Sydney Mines. She also leaves behind her brother Simon, Ingonish; sisters, Mary Brewer, Theresa Robinson, and Donna Murphy, all of Ingonish; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James; her son, Wayne; and brothers, Amos, Leo, Jack and Bill.
Visitation for Adeline Cousins will be held in Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines, on Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Adeline’s life will take place Friday at 1 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Tobin Road, Sydney Mines.
Family flowers only. If desired, donations in Adeline’s memory can be made to Trinity Anglican Church.
