Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' MacIsaac

Born In: Sydney

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: April 26th, 2016

Betty MacIsaac, our beautiful and precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 where she passed away peacefully with family at her side at the CND Health Care Center at Mac Gillivray Guest Home. Our hearts are filled with sorrow but also gratitude for who she was for us.
Mom was born in 1923 in Sydney, grew up in the north end and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary ( MacNeil) MacLellan.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Wayne) Fougere and Sr. Maureen, CND, both of Sydney. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Deanna (Arthur) Barbut, Windsor, Ont.; David, Montreal; Michael, Fredericton and Maureen, Sydney; two great-grandchildren, Victor and Xander and her brother, Freddie, Oshawa, Ont.; brother-in-law, Malcolm MacNeil; sisters-in-law, Cecilia D’Agostino and Patricia MacLellan, as well as nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Murdock; sisters, Anne, Mary, Rita and brothers, Peter, Fr. Vince and Donald.
She was a devout Catholic whose faith was a gift she possessed and nourished all her life. Mom has been a member of St. Theresa’s parish for over 60 years. She was a member of the CWL for over 40 years and she also felt privileged to serve as Eucharistic minister for many years. Mom had wonderful devotion to St. Marguerite Bourgeoys and carried out that fidelity as a CND Associate in her 25th year. Her love for nature and God’s creation was enriched by all our summers enjoyed at the bungalow in Island View on the Bras d’Or Lakes.
After graduating from Holy Angels, she continued her studies at the Empire Business College. Mom worked at the Income Tax in the early days and for most of her career worked at City Hall.
Betty was frequently referred to as a lady; a gentle person who exemplified the qualities of womanhood. She possessed a deep love for her family and an influence, which was extended to all who encountered her. Mom always had an appreciation for kindnesses manifested to her. In recent years with diminishment, she was particularly grateful for those who lovingly cared for her at home and at CND Health Care Center.
Visitation for Betty MacIsaac will be from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 29 at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MacGillivray Guest Home. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.twcurry.com.
Mom will be forever in our hearts.
