Kathryn Shirley Hamilton

HAMILTON, Kathryn Shirley – 81, Lower Onslow. It is with fragile hearts that we, Kathryn's family, announce her passing on the sunshine filled morning of Friday, April 29, 2016, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Kathryn was born in Truro to the late Howard Roper and Carrie Brenton Roper. A blessed child from the beginning, Kathryn was born and raised on Beech Hill Farm alongside her beloved sister, Carol, and as these two sisters sang their way through fields laced with buttercups, life was but a dream. Kathryn grew to be a shy, beautiful, talented young lady who fell in love and stayed in love for over sixty years with her husband, Edsel Milton Hamilton. Together, they raised two children, Gregory Ward Hamilton, Amherst, and Melanie Jane MacBean, Truro, and welcomed Melanie's husband, their chosen son, John Michael Anderson MacBean, with open arms into their family. Along with her husband, children and many dear friends, Kathryn is survived by precious nieces and nephews whom she adored as well as their families. Along with her parents, Kathryn was predeceased by her sister, Bette Chisholm, and her beloved niece, Cherie Elizabeth Brown. Abiding by Kathryn's wishes, there will be an intimate graveside service for family and friends at Terrace Hill Cemetery, Kaulback Street, Truro, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016, Reverend Glenn MacLean officiating. Reception will follow. If so desired, donations in Kathryn’s memory to SPCA or Trinity United Church are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Kathryn’s obituary on-line and selecting “Send A Condolence” at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
