CANN, Betty Mae – age 87 of South Ohio, Yarmouth Co., NS passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 2, 2016. Born in Boston, Mass on September 28, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Roger and Mayme Pitman. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She worked at the post office during most of her working career. In her spare time Betty had a passion for painting, piano and singing. She is survived by her daughters Marilyn “Gail” O’Sullivan, South Ohio; Marcia (Stephen) Shields, Dartmouth; son, Murray “Scott” Cann, South Ohio; sisters, Violet Cook, Bedford; Ruth Moulton, Bedford; grandchildren, Leslie Ronahan and Stephani Matthews and Dara Cann. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Murray Cann. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 7-9 in Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church where the funeral was held Thursday May 5, 2016 at 2 P.M., Rev. Mike Cannell officiated. Interment took place in Hillside Cemetery in South Ohio. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to Camp Peniel.
