Purvis, Robert S., 77 of New Glasgow passed away peacefully May 4, 2016 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his wife and daughter by his side.
Born in Priestville, Pictou County he was a son of the late Clifford and Gertrude (Baglole) Purvis.
Robert was employed with the former Trenton Works. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf with the guys, cards (crib) and doing puzzles with the ladies.
He leaves behind his wife Barbara, son Robbie (Margie), Truro;  2 daughters Tanya and Sherry (Phillip) Blackwood, 3 granddaughters: Jennifer, Robyn (Brad), Nicole (Justin), 3 great-granddaughters who were his pride and joy, Zoe, Meera Chisholm and Hannah Roussy, a brother Clyde (Sharon), sisters: Hazel (Earle) Burgess and Ivy MacRae.
He was predeceased by sisters Anne Purvis and Doris Belle Olsen, brothers Clifford, Edward, a sister-in-law Marilyn.
Cremation has taken place.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
A private burial will take place at the Abercrombie Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Robert may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
