It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Stuart Tait, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend on Saturday May 7, 2016.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late Henry and Isabel (Murray) Tait.
‘Stu’ was a career military man, spending 30 years serving with the RCAF before retiring in 1982 and moving home to Cape Breton.
He was a longtime member of Branch #19 Royal Canadian Legion in North Sydney.
Stu was a quiet and humble man who cared about his family. He enjoyed the special relationships he had with his grandchildren, Tanya and Crystal ‘Georgie’, Brandon and Lauren (Sandra), Stuart and Dawson (Robert).
Stu is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Drake) Tait; children, Robert (Judy) Tait of Ottawa, Sandra (Hugh) Toner of Georges River; stepdaughter, Georgina (Georgie) (LeRoy) Musgrave of North Sydney; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Stu was predeceased by four brothers, Henry, Alexander, Theodore, William and two sisters, Jean and Agnes.
Visitation for Stu will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
