Veronica Hatty

HATTY, VERONICA
Veronica Ann Hatty passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 in her Rothesay home, surrounded by family and friends. Veronica was pre-deceased by her husband Paul P.D. Hatty. Born on April 19, 1936, Veronica was the daughter of the late Joseph and Vera Zed.
During her husband’s formative years in Law School, Veronica began her career at NBTel. After the birth of her son Christopher, Veronica joined Paul to establish the law firm of Paul P. D. Hatty; rumour has it Veronica was effectively Managing Partner.
Veronica was Sittie, (Lebanese Grandmother) to so many. She will be remembered for her warm heart and fiery independent personality. Veronica was a strong woman and matriarch for many of us. Her wisdom shared over the years has helped to empower the lives of those around her.
Veronica loved her summers boating with Paul on the Saint John River along with the many cruising adventures they shared together from the Bay of Fundy to the Coast of Maine.
Veronica at 80 years old could still whip up what seemed to be endless amounts of kibbi, ginger snaps and lamb which she loved to share with her large family. Her famous Christmas cookies have delivered smiles from the Antigonish, NS to Vancouver, BC.
Although, retired for many years Veronica stayed sharp often referring to herself as the family dispatch; always knowing what was happening and who was where in this great big world of ours.
Having left this world Veronica now has a broader vantage point to watch over and be with all of us.
Veronica is survived by daughter Paula Hatty and son in law Rick Benson; son Christopher J. P. Hatty; three grandchildren: Brendan Benson, Michael Benson and Emily Benson; dear friend Patrick Young and sisters Joan Murray (Mike) and Beverly Habeeb (Roy).
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424),with visiting on Thursday , May 12th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, on Friday, May 13th, 2016 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
