Passed peacefully away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, Desmond J. Chafe, age 66 years, surrounded by the love of family and friends right to the end. Predeceased by parents: Jack and Ethel Chafe; father and mother-in-law: Patrick and Olive Domino. Left with amazing and loving memories his wife of 45 years, Jeanette (Domino); his two precious sons: Des Jr. (Kelly) and Jason (Carrie); the joys of his life, his grandchildren: Sarah; Samantha, Jennifer and Desmond; his special four legged friend and companion Holly; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lorraine Penney (Phonse, Stephanie and Stacey), Donna Domino, Doug Domino (Robin, Joanne, Krista, Madison, Jordan and Tyler), Pat Domino (Karen, Morgan), Brian Fitzpatrick; special uncle Gordon Clements and family; other cousins and very special friends: Sean O'Toole, Vicki Arezes and Curtis Bastow. Des had an unbelievable network of close friends, which are not limited to his buddies at horseshoes, weekly card games, darts, fishing and hunting or the endless memories that were created with the Witless Bay Line crew. Work life for Des was as varied as was his interests in life from 24 years at the Janeway which fueled his passion for the Union, to endless days on the road with Superior Propane, Rogers Cable, The Telegram or driving the kids on the school bus. He was well known and loved across the province and beyond as witnessed by the recent "Do for Des" held in his honor. Des and his family were overwhelmed by the friendship and support of all those who planned and organized the event and all those who attended or sent their thoughts and prayers of well wishes. Known for his ability to never lose an argument and he was certainly never late! He will be missed but never forgotten.
