Haliburton - John Robert “Jack” Russell, age 73, of Haliburton, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Ross and Edith (Robson) Russell. Jack was employed in Parts and Service with Atlantic Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and worked for the former J.J. Grant Ltd. for over 30 years. He was a graduate of New Glasgow High School and was a carpenter by trade. An avid car enthusiast, he enjoyed going for long drives and detailing his car. He was a collector of antique pop bottles and coins and collected for the Kidney Foundation for a number of years. Jack enjoyed following his grandkids sports; was a former coach with New Glasgow Minor Hockey and played rugby, hockey and boxed in younger years. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Odo); daughter, Jeanette (John) Hashem, Sydney; sons: John (Cathy), New Glasgow; Jason (Sherri), Riverview; Jared, Halifax; grandchildren: Kelsey Hashem; Colby, Chad and Cailey Russell; sisters: Jean Stewart; Joyce (George) McKarney, both of New Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, Donald Stewart. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday.
