It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our sister and aunt, Lorraine Margaret Taylor, age 85, on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Franklyn and Edna (Stewart) Hopkins. She was a hairdresser by trade for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed travelling throughout her life. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines.
She is survived by her three brothers, William Hopkins, Toronto, Kevin Hopkins (Mary Turner), Sydney, Neil (Marilyn) Hopkins, Trenton, Ont.; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Taylor, North Sydney and sister-in-law, Patricia Taylor, Sydney Mines. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Gail (Graham) Bardswich, Terry (Marilyn) Hopkins, Kelly (Barry) Brown, Stewart Hopkins (Nancy Whynot), Christopher MacLean, Sherry Kuipers (Lou) and Shannon Martin, Brian (Gerry) Gale, Tessie (Doug) Forrest, Matthew Taylor, Cathy (Don) Glanant, Darlene (Roy Brown) Taylor and David Taylor.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Taylor and her brother, John Stewart ‘Jackie’ Hopkins.
The family would like to thank, Maxine (Jim) Billard, Margie and Harold Wells, and Dr. Doug Kohlsmith and the staff of 2West Northside General Hospital for the care shown to Lorraine.
A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday May 21, 2016 at Trinity Anglican Church, Sydney Mines with Rev. Stacey Lemoine officiating. Burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
