Velma was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She volunteered over 6000 hours with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital She attended local schools in Southport, Parkdale and Prince of Wales College. She was a talented seamstress, quilter, as well as fine needlecrafter. She also crafted wood and leather objects. She created many, many “chemo hats” for patients of the Cancer Treatment Center. She loved to entertain and filled her home with friends, family and laughter. Although a worldwide traveler, her later years were curtailed by severe osteoporosis, resulting in many major bone fractures, and finally dementia, which caused her to spend her final seventeen months at Beach Grove Home, where she received such wonderful loving and caring attention.
