John Leander Hank “Johnny” Gibson – 55, of Kentville, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of John “Avon” Gibson and the late Arvella (Archer) Gibson. He was well-known in the Kentville area and could frequently be found at Tim Horton’s. He was active with the Open Arms community. In his early years, Johnny worked on various farms throughout the area and was proud to be part of the crew that removed the railway tracks in Kings County. He was a hard worker and always spoke his mind. He is survived by his children, his “precious stones”, Mahalya, Ocean, Treanna, Tanisha and Taniqua; his girlfriend and partner, Terri Cameron; sisters, Brenda, Darlene and Mary; brothers, Bryant, Henry, Glenn, Robert, Tony and Tracey; a grandson, Izaac. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, Reverend John Andrew officiating. Following the service, all were invited at a gathering at Open Arms for fellowship. Donations in memory may be made to the Diabetes Association or Open Arms.
