It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, John Douglas Chislett, age 70, on Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home.
Born in North Sydney on June 22, 1945, he was the son of the late John ‘Jack’ and Jean (Robinson) Chislett. John was a quiet man who enjoyed his time as executive chef at various locations throughout Cape Breton. A private man, John cherished the simple things in life such as time spent with his family and his view overlooking the Sydney Harbour.
John is survived by his only son, Sean (Tanya) Chislett, Sydney; his grandchildren, Josh, North Sydney, Frankie and Sophie Chislett; his brother, Curtis (Brenda) Chislett, North Sydney; his sisters, Linda Harbinson, St. Catharines, Ont., Janie Chislett, North Sydney, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Roland (Rollie) and Albert Chislett and sister, Diane Chislett.
As per John’s request there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
