ISADORE SHYNKARUK
1928 – 2016

Isadore Shynkaruk was born on Tuesday, February 21, 1928, in Cudworth, SK, to his parents, Mary (nee Lepitzki) and William Shinkaruk, who lived in the Hoodoo, SK, area. He was the third oldest of 11 children. Isadore moved with his parents and siblings to homestead in the Mildred, SK, area, and attended the Mildred School. At the age of 15, he left home to start his new life career, along with his older brother, Mike, working for farmers in the Thackerey District near Wilkie, SK. It was there that he met the love of his life, Lenora Winterhalt. They were married on April 22, 1946. They both worked for farmers in the Senlac area before moving to the Shell Lake District in the fall of 1951 to continue farming. In 1954, they moved to the City of Prince Albert, where Isadore worked for Domtar Chemicals for 23 years, until Domtar Chemicals closed down, forcing him to look for other employment. In 1972, he began working for the City of Prince Albert Engineering Division, where he stayed until his retirement in 1993. Isadore and Lenora loved travelling all over Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. He loved camping and fishing; his joy was seeing who could catch the biggest fish out of all of us! He loved carpentry, building a new addition onto their home and making birdhouses and ornaments. He also loved gardening. His cucumber patch was his pride and joy. He always looked forward to eating the first cucumber from the garden each year, and sharing fresh potatoes from his potato patch with his family. On February 1, 2014, Isadore lost the love of his life, Lenora, to Alzheimer’s. They were together for 68 years and raised 5 wonderful children. In the fall of 2014, he sold his home and moved to Carment Court, where he stayed until July of 2015, when his health took a turn for the worse and he moved into Mont St. Joseph’s Home. He enjoyed his stay there, and enjoyed the staff as well. However, his health continued to fail, and he succumbed to his illness on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Linda (Joseph) Brassard, Magdalene (Victor) Gignac, Denis (Sharon) Shynkaruk, Ernest “Ernie” (Pam) Shynkaruk and Shelley (Mark) Tendeck, grandchildren, Jason Gignac, Lisa (Sean) McLaren, Chris (Tammy) Shynkaruk, Dana (Natalie) Shynkaruk, Geoffrey (Suzanne) Shynkaruk, Trista (Johnathon) Topping, Brandon Tendeck and Justin Tendeck, and great-grandchildren, Carter and Hayley McLaren, Kelsey and Madison Shynkaruk, Paige and Layne Shynkaruk, Hannah Nora Topping, his oldest brother, John Shynkaruk of Spiritwood, SK, his sisters, Annie Papp of Prince Albert, SK, and Jean (Brian) Seaborn of Richmond, BC, and his sister-in-law, Frances Shinkaruk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends. Isadore was predeceased by his wife, Lenora (nee Winterhalt), his parents, Mary (nee Lepitzki) and William Shinkaruk, his brothers, Ted (Gloria) Shinkaruk, Stanley (Lois) Shinkaruk, Steve (Tillie) Shinkaruk, Edward (Catherine) Shynkaruk, George Shinkaruk and William “Willie” Shinkaruk, his sister-in-law, Violet Shynkaruk. The family would like to thank Dr. S. Oleksinki for the amazing care, as well as the staff and nurses at Mont St. Joseph Home for the care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to the Mont St Joseph Foundation, 777 28th St. E., Prince Albert, SK, S6V 8C2. A Celebration of Isadore’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at River Park Memorial Chapel in Prince Albert, SK. Mr. Eldon Danielson will officiant. Interment will take place in the Garden of Sermon on the Mount, Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Colette Kadziolka, Funeral Director
