Alfred (Buddy) Fielding

Alfred (Buddy) Fielding, Age 86, Truro.

Buddy passed in the Colchester East Hants Health Center, Truro on June 1, 2016, after a brief illness.

Born April 3, 1930 to Alfred and Verta (Smith) Fielding of Truro, Buddy spent most of his life in the immediate area. He was a long time union construction worker, traveling throughout the Maritimes on large and small projects.

Buddy loved the horses and could often be seen at the horse barns and at the racetrack. Always an active and on-the-go type, he would help care for race horses until very recently. He could be counted on to appear at the Truro Mall at 4:30 each day to hold court and tell stories. He treasured his cars, keeping them spotless and clean and could often be seen driving through town on the way to his next stop.

Buddy is survived by nephews Gary (Delia) Fleck, Truro, Terry (Vicki-Lynn) Black, Halifax; nieces Valerie (Mark) Thompson, Halifax; Nancy (Andrew) Snook, Annapolis Royal and several cousins from two large families.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters and their husbands Betty (Harry) Forbes, Shirley (Laurie) Black, and nephew Barry Fleck.

Special thanks to the caring staff at the hospital and especially Nurse Catherine in Palliative Care for making Buddy’s last days and hours as comfortable as possible.

No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 3 p.m. in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro with Lt. Daniel Rowe officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of N.S. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro where on-line condolences may be made at: www.ColchesterCommunity.com
