ROY HAROLD O’BRIEN
June 1st, 1934 to June 1st, 2016
Roy Harold O’Brien, aged 82 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on June 1st, 2016. Born in Lake Valley, SK, Roy loved to travel throughout Western Canada, the West Coast being his favourite. A plumber by trade, for many years he had his own plumbing business in Edmonton, AB. He belonged to the United Association of Pipe Trades Local #488 Edmonton and received his 50 year recognition this year. Roy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cosmo Centre and Timothy Eatons, where he enjoyed playing pool and a great game of cards. He touched the lives of everyone he met. Roy was a loving but stubborn man with many great stories to share of his travels in life. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold O’Brien and Kay (O’Brien) Schwartz; sister, Joan Massicotte; brother, Carl O’Brien: second wife, Beverly (June) O’Brien; and Roddy Ferguson. Roy is survived by and will be greatly missed by His Love, his wife Gwen O’Brien; daughters, Barbara (Mike) Yedesberger and Linda (Jeff) Campbell; son, Jim O’Brien; sister, Myrna (Jim) McLean; brother, Larry (Kathy) O’Brien; all of Gwen’s children (whom he loved dearly): Kandy (Vern) Denne-Gurnsey, Randy Ferguson, Terry (Leslie) Ferguson and Penny Ferguson; all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his children’s mother, Jean O’Brien; and so many others. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Roy’s name may be made to the Alberta Fires Appeal c/o Canadian Red Cross, PO Box 4050 STN C, Calgary, AB T2T 9Z9.
