Passed gently away June 3, 2016, Dermot Butland of O'Donnell's, St. Mary's Bay, age 82. He was ready to join his sweetheart wife Vera (Veronica Hanlon). Leaving to mourn his children: Marilyn (Paul Lannon), Laura (Ed Sexton), Chris
(Connie Parrott), Eddy (Janice), Neil (Tonya), Claudette (John Tobin), Dean, and Carmella (Dave Prince); his grandchildren: Curtis, Jonathan and April, Trevor, Kyra and Laura-Lee, Kristen, Allison, Neil, Leah and Devon, Glenn and Chris, Caleigh and Jack; and his great grandchildren: Alexa and Madison, Lily and Kali, Morgan and Abby. Also mourning his loss are his brother, Michael (Patricia) and many friends, and nieces, nephews, cousins in the Butland, Hanlon and Nolan families. Predeceased by his parents: Michael & Anastasia Butland, and his 4 sisters: (Sarah, Katherine, Marguerite and Laura) and 4 brothers: (Leo, Steve, Thomas and Bernard). Dermot was a business man, shop owner, a fisherman, a camper, a musician and a friend and discreet caretaker of many, and Mr. Derm to students for over 40 years as a bus contractor and driver. Special thanks to the caretakers of Pleasant View Towers and Pearl House. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors in the chapel of St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's, St. Mary's Bay on Monday June 6 from 4 - 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 am on Tuesday, June 7 in St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, O'Donnell's.
