Donald Stewart Wile

Wile, Donald Stewart – 91, Onslow Mountain passed away suddenly on June 3, 2016 at his home. Born in Windsor, he was the son of the late Harris and Annabelle (Johnstone) Wile. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Donald loved to sing but had a “tin ear”. He had a generous and loving heart. He served as a “code-breaker” for the Royal Canadian Airforce during WWII. He worked for the Singer Sewing Company and co-owned Truro Electronics with his brother-in-law, Ken Wood. He worked as a part-time farmer and for Purina Feeds. He also worked as a carpenter and electrician for various companies in Truro. Donald was a very active member in the Truro Alliance Church. He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia (Elva) MacDonald, Upper Nine Mile River, Heather Harnish, Onslow Mountain; sons, Stephen (Heather) Calgary, Alta, David, Onslow Mountain; sister-in-law, Isobel Wile; brother-in-law, Ken (Jean) Wood; honorary daughter, Cathy (Joe) Merlin; grandchildren, Janessa (Aaron) Driedger, Shannon (Josh) Bartlett, Tiffany (Kyle) Harnish, Jeffery (Andrea) MacDonald, Jordan (Cameron) Birch, Jonathan MacDonald, Luke (Alyssa) Wile; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Venus; son-in-law, Kenneth Harnish; sisters and brothers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7 from 6-8 pm with a funeral service on Wednesday, June 8 at 2 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Scott Penner officiating. Interment in Sand Hill Cemetery, Upper Nine Mile River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Truro Alliance Church Building Fund, Gideon’s International or World Vision.
